Who was best of the week? Well, that could be decided based on your personal opinion.
Maybe it was your favorite designer, maybe it was that one piece you saw on the runway that you are now dying to own,or maybe it was the astounding street style found walking all around the building and posing for the cameras by the Lincoln Center fountain.
There were numerous amazing looks from the runway and as much as we would love to go through every show, it’d just be too much information and plus we all just want to look at pictures anyway. I have rounded up some of the best looks from the runway and I am going to share them now that the week is over and they are off to London.
Marc Jacobs mixed gothic Victorian with sporty… and put the audience in awe. Who ever would have thought that putting together lacey victorian blouses, embroidered heavy jackets, board shorts and sneakers would come out looking so flawlessly? No one did, until those models came out sporting his collection. The long gowns were outstanding and the color combinations – although they were vaguely dark mostly navy, maroon, black and brown – were still head turning. Along with the shimmery knee length dresses that were oddly paired with boots, sneakers and moccasins. And not to mention Kendall Jenner looked amazing!
Calvin Klein, a brand of sophistication and modern style, brought sharpness and sexiness in bold silhouettes and beautiful ensembles to the runway. Cream colored skirts, sheer paneled ivory sweaters, boxy tunics, tons of pattern pleated skirts and dress were amongst the collection.
Ralph Lauren ended the snow-filled week with a revelation to the newest collection for women: Polo! The new Polo collection was filled with school uniform apparel, knee-high socks, varsity sweaters, plaid quilted jackets, and a lot of mixes with Aztec print. Black and white color combinations made a great counterpart on the runway, according to Harper’s Bazaar as did pinstripes, florals, and tiny-checkered patterns. My favorite look from the collection? The staple red strapless evening gown with a built in cape!
Narciso Rodriguez featured a ton of clean, cutting edge combinations that highlight the feminism of the body. Cropped tops and wrap skirts with monotone cream and black hues was something that stood out in the collection.
3.1 Phillip Lim created a collection with much detail but a ton of simplicity. Such a modern, cool girl vibe was perfect for this NYFW. I loved almost every look!
The DKNY show was full of urban sporty styles and a ton of black. But seriously who doesn’t love black anyway? With this new collection, Donna Karan gave new light to the brand which made it a lot more fresh and exciting. The varsity jackets and sweaters with sequin filled arms were two of the most stand outs from the runway.
Victoria Beckham’s runway collection has made her look more and more like a designer than ever before. She gave us a collection full of modern looks with a lot of geometric patterns and a school girl vibe.
Alexander Wang was another designer who embraced the school girl vibe, except with a little more clean edges. Wang featured ultra mini-pleated skirts, sporty cardigans, leather skirts and dresses and a ton of boxy shapes.
Milly by Michelle Smith was my favorite show of them all. I loved the the whole collection and got to watch it online during one of my classes, shhh. haha! Sequins, fur, fun and fancy all at the same time. The whole collection was so edgy and fab, although, I don’t know how I could ever style it! I think I loved it the most because it was so different and for some reason it captured my attention.
There was a common theme during this Fashion Week and it was victorian and sporty. Mix the two together and you get such a classy modern look! Loved it! For more show details and photos, check out FabSugar. Also, make sure you check out the Sass & Bide 2014 runway collection. Very , very chic.
